What flowers are good to put in a flowerbed?

I’m going to be planting flowers in a bunch of flower beds. This is on a golf course I need to know what are some good type of flowers to put in them. I need a variety of colors and pictures will help.
I live in Iowa. The beds get full sun and part sun. The beds are circular probably 3 or 4 feet diameter. A mixture would be best.
